Gearwrench® X-Beam Wins Design Industry Accolades

GearWrench continues to impress design aficionados with its groundbreaking X-Beam Ratcheting Wrench. The ergonomic wrench design recently received two additional honors --a Bronze award from the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) and an honorable mention from International Design (I.D.) magazine.

IDSA's Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) are co-sponsored by BusinessWeek and celebrate the best product designs of the year. This year was a monumental year for the program as the society received nearly two thousand entries. The IDEA jury, a carefully selected group of 18 leading thinkers in the design world, chose 20 entries to receive the Gold award, 19 entries for the Silver award and 42 for the Bronze award.

The International Design (I.D.) magazine's "Annual Design Review" recognized the X-Beam with an honorable mention in its consumer products category. The only hand tool selected, GearWrench's proprietary design is listed alongside innovations from other leading consumer brands including Herman Miller, Sony, Nike and Apple. More than 2,000 entries from around the world were received for this competition.

The award-winning X-Beam wrench design was invented by Richard J. Macor of Proprietary Technologies, Inc. and licensed exclusively to Danaher Tool Group, GearWrench's parent company.

Over the past year, the X-Beam wrench has been recognized with many prestigious accolades, including the 2006 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) International New Products Award and the Best of What’s New Award from Popular Science magazine in 2006.
