AMT Editor Asks Himself, "Why didn't I think of that?" After First Being Introduced to the X-Beam

During the 2006 SEMA show in Las Vegas, Aircraft Maintenance Technology (AMT) editor Joe Escobar attended a luncheon sponsored by GearWrench expecting to see a variety of new products as he frequently does at industry shows. What he did not expect was the X-Beam. In his December 2006 editorial in AMT, Escobar recalled his immediate impressions after first laying eyes on the X-Beam -- he knew immediately that the tool had been developed by a mechanic and he asked himself, Why didnt I think of that? The article stated that the X-Beam handle is forged at a 90-degree angle, ensuring that whether youre working with the ratcheting end or open-end, your hand applies pressure to a flat surface (as opposed to the thin edge of a traditional wrench). AMT is read by more than 20,000 aircraft maintenance professionals each month.
